Heavy Metal's ascendancy as a musical force became apparent on May 29, 1983 in
Devore California.
Until then, Metal Heads were gathered in the underground plotting our
world conquest.
But on May 29, 1983, the world had no choice but to take notice - Metal
had arrived on its own terms.
Saturday's Show with Flock Of Seagulls, INXS, Men At Work, & The
Clash drew nearly 300,000. Monday's show with David Bowie, U2, & the
Pretenders drew roughly the same numbers. Sunday's Heavy Metal Day drew over
600,000 Headbangers. The critics had to pull the feet out of their mouths as
the above named darlings of the music press were outshined by a bunch of guys
in leather and studs.
Triumph, Judas Priest and Quiet Riot have released their respective US
Festival sets on both DVD and CD.
